Just as they did this summer, Paris hosted the Olympic Games 100 years ago. Chariots of Fire tells the story of two athletes who represented Great Britain that year – perhaps the greatest movie ever produced about running and religion. Harold Abrahams, a Jew, runs to repudiate the antisemitism he encounters at Cambridge University. Eric Liddell, a Calvinist Christian missionary, runs to give glory to God and preach the Gospel.
Receiving seven nominations, Chariots of Fire won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture in 1982. It is one of Father Michael’s favorite films – truly an inspiring story of faith and the pursuit of excellence.
Join us for an evening of British-inspired food and drink. The evening begins with appetizers and an open bar, a screening of the film, a reflection from Father Michael, and dinner.
