Preparation for First Communion

Planning and preparing for the Sacrament of First Communion is a wonderfully exciting time for both parents and children. 



To receive First Communion, one parent must be a registered member of our parish or have written permission from your pastor to celebrate the sacrament at Saint Joseph Catholic Community.

HOW TO BEGIN:

1. Discern: Determine if your child is in Grades 2 through 5, has not done preparation or received First Communion, and you feel that they are ready,
2. Register to Become a Member (if necessary): Register your family as members of St. Joseph Catholic Community - Complete the registration form on our Membership Page.
3. Register for Faith Formation (Required): Register your child(ren) in the St. Joseph Catholic Community Faith Formation program - Complete the registration form on our Learn Page.
4. Register for First Communion Preparation: Child(ren) enrolled in the Faith Formation program and their families will be invited to attend the required First Communion preparation sessions and sacrament celebration.
5. Participation: Attend required preparation events (see below).
6. Alternate Scheduling (If the scheduling below does not work with the family), contact the Director of Children and Adult Faith Formation to determine availability.
