Young people in grades 8-12 provide the leadership for a variety of youth ministry events, retreats, and more, as well as support each other through regular faith sharing. The Director of Youth Ministry will help Peer Ministers build their skills in leadership and ministry. These young people are primarily focused on building their relationship with Christ through active ministry to their friends, family, community, and Parish.

Peer Ministry Mission Statement
Peer Ministers are youth who desire to serve Jesus through His Church. Peer Ministry empowers these youth, who support and encourage each other, to lead other youth by example into a relationship with Christ. Peer Ministers will accomplish this goal by taking an active role in the faith life of the community and by living their discipleship to Jesus Christ every day.

The following list is the means to fulfill the above statement. Peer Ministers are asked to adhere to these guidelines to bear fruit in and for this ministry.

• Peer Ministers model their commitment, and communicate their faith through regular participation at On the Rock or IN TOUCH meetings.
• Peer Ministers are active in the life of the Faith Community and participation at Sunday Liturgy is required.
• Peer Ministers participate when able in Youth Ministry Sponsored events, applying the leadership skills they have acquired when appropriate.
• Peer Ministers model their belief that their bodies are “Temples of The Holy Spirit” and thus abstain from the use of drugs or alcohol and from sexual activity.
• Peer Ministers are asked to communicate with the Director of Youth Ministry, taking a role as mandatory reporters to report any knowledge and/or reports of violence or abuse.
• Peer Ministers are encouraged to submit ideas and to offer their services for On the Rock and IN TOUCH sessions.
• Peer Ministers will have opportunities to take some leadership roles on Middle School and High School retreats. The opportunities may be first come, first served.
